Madelinette is a strategy game in the “blockade” family, in which the winner immobilizes the opponent’s pegs. This specific set of rules was devised in eastern Europe in the midst of the Medieval period. Made in the USA for two players ages 6+. Average game play time is 20 minutes.
The same pegboard can also be used to play Horseshoe. The oldest examples of the Horseshoe Game are from ancient Chinese ruins, and there the game is called Pong Hau K’ie. The game is also known in Korea. To play Horseshoe on the Madelinette board, players simply ignore the three points at the center of each side (as marked) and use only two pegs each.
